A live presentation of the finished product to the rest of the class and gallery attendants.
This is a group project for the class CSC220: Object Oriented Multimedia Programming. It is written in P5.js and can be run entirely in the browser. The goal of this project was to collaborate and come up with a unique idea that contained multimedia elements and could be displayed in the student gallery at the end of the term. This project was inspired by the unique visual experience achieved when placing a sheet of two way glass in front of a monitor. The parts of the monitor that are illuminated will shine through the glass while the darker parts will not leaving the user with their reflection. The mirror works by taking a picture of the user every second and sending the image to the F.A.C.E API where it is analyzed for facial expressions. Then the data is sent back to the computer running the mirror and the users emotion is determined. From there mood rings will begin to radiate around the persons face in the mirror and a mood mask will be drawn over their reflection.
The Clock-O-Matic is an appication I created in my spare time in order to gain more experience with the p5.js framework. The user can activate the clock by holding the left mouse button down or by pressing the spacebar. Once the clock is activated the hands on the individual faces will align to show the current time. While the clock is active it will continue to update as the time changes.
Pixel Knight is a short 2d game that I developed in Java using Eclipse IDE. I wanted to familiarize myself with the Java programming language and I thought that developing a simple game would allow me to get the hands on experience that I needed. As of now the game only has 2 levels completed but I hope to go back and finish it out in the future.
Meal Deal Finder is a social aggregation of deals designed to provide a centralized location for finding restaurant specials in your area. Currently, all of the content is user submitted and user moderated. Businesses can pay to promote deals in order to improve feed visibility. This gives businesses a passive, low-cost way to promote their brand. Users are able to browse the application anonymously, but miss out on some features as a registered user: such as narrowing the search radius for deals, toggling 21+ deals in the feed, posting deals, commenting on deals, and following businesses for new deal notifications. The Meal Deal Finder application has been developed for the Android operating system. For the backend Parse Server was used. It provides a useful interface for storing and returning application data. The application is dependent on the Google Places API, which provides information about business locations. We are also utilizing the Yelp API to pull down reviews for the businesses.
