Meal Deal Finder is a social aggregation of deals designed to provide a centralized location for finding restaurant specials in your area. Currently, all of the content is user submitted and user moderated. Businesses can pay to promote deals in order to improve feed visibility. This gives businesses a passive, low-cost way to promote their brand. Users are able to browse the application anonymously, but miss out on some features as a registered user: such as narrowing the search radius for deals, toggling 21+ deals in the feed, posting deals, commenting on deals, and following businesses for new deal notifications.
The Meal Deal Finder application has been developed for the Android operating system. For the backend Parse Server was used. It provides a useful interface for storing and returning application data. The application is dependent on the Google Places API, which provides information about business locations. We are also utilizing the Yelp API to pull down reviews for the businesses.
